The material consists of records from the Riksdag with debates that primarily concern general political issues as well as energy, equal opportunity and employment issues. The second study will focus on the way in which Palme's speeches, and possibly debate contributions, were reproduced in the media. Focus is geared towards the process in which utterances are recontextualised and the effects that this recontextualisation has. Also the second sub-study mmmf fuck will cover the period mmmf fuck 1973–1978.
Politics and the Visual Culture. Concepts like visual culture mmmf fuck and image culture have in recent gangbang girls mmf years come into increasingly frequent use by media researchers as a way of mmmf fuck characterising a culture and a society in which pictures and visualisation techniques permeate not only language and creation of meaning but also society and culture at large. The literature on this theme has grown substantially and several anthologies have been published (The Visual Culture Reader, 1998; Visual Culture The Reader, 1999; Crary 2001; Sturken and Cartwright 2001; van Leeuwen and Jewitt 2001). The literature has also provided important contributions to analyses of imagery and the composition and semiotics of pictures, but also to the way in which visual media technologies are integrated in the creation of identity, in social practices, in popular culture, in the entertainment industry and mmmf fuck in the activities of institutions (including those of politics). There is here also an important theory development on how vision has become the centre of various practices (ideological, pedagogical, disciplining, entertaining, shocking, erotic etc.) (comp. Sturken and Cartwright 2001). Common to a whole set of visualisation techniques developed from the mid 19th century and onwards has been a mmmf fuck potential to attract attention. Such techniques have been utilised in every respect, ranging from public attractions to advertisements, films and news pictures in daily press (Crary 2001; Ekstrom, 2000; Schwartz 1999). A core concept in this context is mmmf fuck the spectacle, which is defined by Sturken and Cartwright (2001) as: "Something that is striking or impressive in its visual display". Abercrombie and Longhurst (1998, p 81) describe society as follows: "... in contemporary society, the world is more thoroughgoingly treated as an object of spectacle. The spectacular gaze is no longer restricted to particular events, occasions or objects but is instead a more pervasive mmmf fuck feature of everyday life". In reference to this, it has also been argued that the appearance and performance before an audience has developed into an increasingly mmmf fuck important dimension of actions and social relationships (Silverstone 1999).
Historical Perspectives. A number of the projects in the programme study communicative practices in a historical perspective with the 20th century as the teens orgies main delimitation, but in some cases in comparison with other historical periods. Vague lines of reasoning in terms mmmf fuck of the development of the media and politics (often from a degeneration perspective) without references to systematic empirical studies of historical material are far too common. The overall aim with the historical studies are thus twofold; first to acquire mmmf fuck knowledge of how institutions, communicative practices mmmf fuck and representation systems have developed over time, and second to better understand the specifics of present conditions by comparisons with earlier periods. Concretely, the historical studies are based on the study of different media material (pictures, newspapers, TV programmes, films etc.) as well as on source studies of archives. Comparative Case Studies with Generalising Ambitions. Within the scope of the research programme, empirical case studies, which together will contribute to more general theoretical conclusions, are carried out. A joint ambition is to work with careful and systematic empirical studies which at the same time are rooted in general theory. The empirical studies have in most cases a comparative case study design.
