Democracy-Theoretical Perspectives. A main aim within the programme is to study the communicative practices that are directly or indirectly linked to the regulatory principles and institutions of a democratic system. In what way have these been affected by the development of the media? There is today extensive literature on the ideals and conditions of democracy. References to the significance of the media are however most often conspicuous by their absence. A common exception are the watch me fuck this redhead references to Habermas' theory on the bourgeois public sphere (see eg Held 1995, Democracy. A Reader 2000). This is somewhat strange given that the development of the media, especially during the 20th century, has radically changed the conditions for democracy. At the same time, it is as serious a shortfall that ladies fucking guys the media research that discusses issues of media and democracy, as well as the research on the mediatisation of watch me fuck this redhead politics, fairly seldom makes the explicit connection to democracy theory. The references to democracy often become vague without clarifying which democracy watch me fuck this redhead theory serves as the point of departure. The ambition with this programme is to link theories from various disciplines and research traditions to each other in a more qualified manner. watch me fuck this redhead We will not here bring up and take sides with any specific democracy ideals or democracy-theoretical viewpoints. Instead, we will provide examples of research objects that are being brought to the fore by the overall focus of the programme. How should we understand the role of the media in this context? How can research on media, language and communicative practices contribute to knowledge of the conditions for democracy? These questions are naturally very far-reaching and watch me fuck this redhead multi-layered. One way of approaching them in a watch me fuck this redhead more systematic manner is to distinguish some of democracy's fundamental regulatory principles and institutions and at the next stage study how these work and change watch me fuck this redhead in relation to the media. Let us give a few examples.
In television news features it is exceptional that interviews with politicians are reproduced in the form of longer sequences of questions and answers. Short clips dominate. A study carried out by Ekstrom (2001b) shows that politicians' answers very often are reproduced without the viewer being presented with the question to which the politician gave his/her answer. By recontextualising interview answers, i.e. moving them watch me fuck this redhead from one context to another, their meaning is changed. watch me fuck this redhead Researchers have argued that journalists nowadays do not really do fucking on two dicks interviews watch me fuck this redhead but rather collect statements to fit their stories (Sand & Helland 1998). It remains to study in detail, in a coherent project, discursive strategies and shifts watch me fuck this redhead in meaning in news reports. This is an important aim watch me fuck this redhead with the project News Journalism and the Edited Conversation. The project consists of several watch me fuck this redhead sub-studies. Single political statements can sometimes have great impact in the media. Certain selected statements become symbols for major political events. It watch me fuck this redhead is not uncommon that politicians' appearances on TV (a statement, a live TV debate, a confession on a talk show etc.) receive great attention in the press, radio and TV. For politicians, this entails opportunities but also risks (Thompson 1995). It is of great importance to study more closely which utterances reach this status, and not least to study in detail the way in which they are created in the actual interactions in the media. A sub-study looks at the process in which an appearance or utterance becomes representative for an entire political event where words, expressions and statements are recontextualised (Linell 1998 a, b) or transferred between different contexts in the media. This is studied from a number of selected political media events that have attracted a lot of attention. How do the events, referred to by the American language and communication researcher Steven Clayman (1995) as defining moments, develop in Swedish political media debates, and what characterises them? This study is in part based on Asa Kroon's (2001) thesis Debattens dynamik [The Dynamics of Media Discourse].
The new communication technologies powered the development of a visual culture, which is characterised by the fact that communication, representation and creation of meaning to a considerable extent take place with the help of imagery, visualisation techniques and visual practices. The development of press photography, film, television and the expansion of advertising, created new conditions for the production of symbols, the contest of meaning, the representation of politics, as well as for political power and legitimacy in general. watch me fuck this redhead Society's institutions – also the political – are involved in and dependent on the production of visual representations and visual attractions. The visual culture is characterised by performativity. Actions watch me fuck this redhead are formed with the purpose of being witnessed. Performances before audiences take on new dimensions. This research programme focuses on the conditions for politics and democracy within the scope of this changing watch me fuck this redhead public sphere. The actual research object is double fucked hard the language of politics and communicative practices, watch me fuck this redhead i.e. speech, utterances, conversation, watch me fuck this redhead text production and mediation of symbols. The point of departure is that political and democratic activities do not exist without such communicative practices. They watch me fuck this redhead are thus studied in each separate case with regard to their social/institutional basis on macro level as well as to their watch me fuck this redhead specific interaction, the linguistic techniques, and text constructions on micro level.
